Syngenta is excited to support the Sand County Foundation in administering and managing programs that work for growers and foster knowledge sharing. For example, a promising trend in this space is collaboration amongst farmers to improve soil health, climate resilience, and farm profitability. In recent years, farmers have promoted these goals with their peers and organized efforts near local watersheds. Through its Regional Conservation Partnership Program, the Sand County Foundation will use a $20 million investment to help accelerate this progress by supporting flexible, customized programs led by farmer networks - enabling them to make informed decisions about resource management and other issues collectively.
In addition, the Sand County Foundation has worked with farmers to increase the soil's resilience to drought or flood conditions while reducing the loss of valuable nutrients and soil that could enter our waterways. Adopting performance-based approaches and presenting flexible options that work for growers can help address these conservation challenges and produce notable improvements in water quality. As a result, the Sand County Foundations is administering a program to engage beginning farmers and late adopters in integrating these climate-smart practices into their operations.
