Seeding rate plays a significant role in helping farmers maximize their return on investment (ROI) and get the most out of every acre. But given the number of variables to take into consideration — crop characteristics, environmental conditions, soil types, moisture and nitrogen levels, planting methods and more — calculating your optimal seeding rate can be a painstaking task.
To this end, NK Seeds designed the NK® Corn Seeding Rate Calculator — a data-based tool that helps farmers estimate the most economical seeding rate per acre with the click of a button.
Using the NK Corn Seeding Rate Calculator is easy:
- Enter your unique information into the Corn Seeding Rate Calculator.
- Select a hybrid and adjust the grain price and seed cost sliders to get your recommended seeding rate.
- Hover over the plot line in the graph (pictured above) for detailed information about your optimum seeding rate.
- Print results
The results generated will show you the most economical seeding rate for the individual hybrids and yield environments you plug in, based on two or more years of data per hybrid collected at a subset of 70 or more trial locations per year. (Trialing across many environments increases the ability to predict how individual corn hybrids should be spaced or managed.)
