Skagit Seed Services earns FarMore Vision Award

The northwest Washington seed supplier was recognized for over 100 years’ support of the agriculture industry

Greensboro, NC, USA, March 5, 2020 – Skagit Seed Services recently received the FarMore® Vision Award for its commitment and contributions to the seed treatment industry. Syngenta presented the award in La Conner, Washington.

Owned by Tom and Jack Hulbert, Skagit Seed Services is a global third-generation farm and seed provider based in northwest Washington. The innovation, stewardship and product excellence they demonstrate has helped growers maximize their seed investments for many years.

“Over the years, Skagit Seed Services has made numerous impactful contributions to our industry,” said Todd Edgington, Syngenta seedcare product management lead. “Syngenta is proud to work with Skagit Seed Services and award them with the FarMore Vision Award for their continued excellence in the field.”

The Hulbert family arrived in the Skagit Valley in 1909. The operation began as a dairy farm that also grew hay and oats. In 1919, they began producing vegetable seed. Skagit Seed Services was officially founded in 1989 to focus on providing seed treatment and pelleting services to growers and dealers at home and around the world.

Onions are a key crop for Skagit Seed Services, Tom Hulbert said. “We do pretty much everything, but onions are the largest area by quite a bit.”

The Hulbert brothers report their customers see excellent results with FarMore FI500 Onion seed treatment.

“Once FarMore got out into the marketplace, growers liked it,” Tom said. “And growers do have a choice. There’s a competitor in the market, but they tend to stay with FarMore.” He cited performance as a key driver for growers who choose FarMore products to treat their seeds.

Skagit Seed Services and Syngenta work closely together to ensure customers get the highest quality seeds and at-plant crop protection to meet their needs in the field.

“Syngenta is a good partner,” Jack Hulbert said. “They help keep us abreast of any products or challenges coming down the road. They help us with any problems that come up.”
