Operation Pollinator

We create essential habitats in agricultural and golf course landscapes to restore pollinator populations and help enhance biodiversity.

What is Operation Pollinator?

Operation Pollinator is a global research-backed initiative that helps restore pollinators in agricultural, golf course and other landscapes by creating essential habitats using specially selected wildflowers to attract a variety of pollinators and increase biodiversity.

The program is conducted through collaboration with key stakeholders for wildflower seed mixtures, with Syngenta providing agronomic expertise and resources. Through Operation Pollinator, growers, golf course superintendents and land managers strengthen the environment through a sustainable approach to biodiversity. In addition to helping restore vital populations of pollinators, Operation Pollinator provides habitats for small mammals and birds.

Operation Pollinator

Through Operation Pollinator, our goal is to convert millions of acres of marginally productive farmland into thriving, biodiverse habitats for pollinators and other wildlife.

Operation Pollinator in Agriculture

Research shows farmers can achieve clear benefits through effective plant selection and management. Results from Operation Pollinator indicate pollinators respond positively when specially selected wildflower mixes are planted in key locations around the farm. With careful site planning and management, in addition to restoring vital populations of pollinating insects and other biodiversity, Operation Pollinator can significantly reduce soil erosion and help protect valuable water resources from soil and nutrient pollution.

Benefits of Pollinator Gardens

3:07

Pollinator gardens are specially designed to attract multiple species of pollinators and other beneficial insects, and these dedicated spaces are crucial to help support biodiversity.

Operation Pollinator in Golf

The vast landscapes of golf courses are well-suited locations for preserving and enhancing wildflower pollinator habitats to prevent further decline. Wildlife Links Program and our Operation Pollinator program provide golf course superintendents with the tools and information needed to establish and manage natural habitats that are crucial for bees and other beneficial pollinating insects, while also enhancing the visual appearance of courses and overall playing experience.

Currently, there are more than 300 Operation Pollinator sites on golf courses across the U.S. We work with superintendents and courses, including Marriott Golf, to establish Operation Pollinator plots and introduce specially selected wildflowers to attract bees and other pollinating insects to out-of-play areas. Hear Syngenta stewardship team and pollinator lead Caydee Savinelli as she speaks to protecting pollinators on and off the course.
